Jenna Bush wedding!

~~~
White House Press Secretary Dana Perino has an amazing EGO (Eyes Glazing Over) quotient. She speaks in soothing monotones until the press corp is sleeping peacefully. At that time, she can give non-answers to even the most alarming questions with no blowback. Roger Clemens should hire this drone. Long time Washington reporter Helen Thomas got the everything's-ok-go-back-to-American-Idol treatment when she inquired about the mission in Sadr City.
THOMAS: Yesterday, according to The New York Times, we dropped a bomb on a home in Sadr City and burned alive a pregnant woman and her children. How long is the siege of Sadr -- how long are we going to keep bombing Iraqis?
PERINO: Well, I'm not aware of that particular report. I have not -- I've not seen it.
THOMAS: Well, it was pretty buried in the story.
PERINO: Okay. Well, the operation against the militias in Sadr City will continue until they root them out. And that is expressly in order to protect people like you just mentioned.
THOMAS: Root who out, Iraqis, in their own country?
PERINO: It is Prime Minister Maliki's government which is going after the militia, which is appropriate.
THOMAS: Why are we bombing these people?
PERINO: Any time anyone that is an innocent civilian is hurt in a conflict, we obviously regret it, and we go out of our way to make sure it doesn't happen.
THOMAS: Thank you.
K wait ...
It's Maliki's government which is going after the militia, not the US, but the US are ones dropping the bombs on houses in order to go out of our way to make sure innocent civilians are not hurt*, especially when they are, which is of course regrettable. Hey look, I'm not going all peace and love here. It's a war and people are going to be burned alive. It happens. My point is, dude, Perino is some kind of automaton.
My impression of Dana Perino talking dirty (and yes, it would be in the form of a prepared statement):
"It's long been the policy of this administration that tactile stimulus of the sort that is being suggested is to be encouraged, whereas the oral arguments put forth in this chamber are in direct opposition to the position statement that was proffered in previous negotiations. For freedom."
I was going to write some Helen Thomas
dirty talk, but it's all wildcat noises.
* By hurt, we of course mean burned alive while watching your children die.
Maliki is Shi'ite. Muqtada al-Sadr is also Shi'ite, but he and his Mahdi Army (populists, if you will, who most believe are backed by Iran, also Shi'ite) the Mahdi army hate Maliki and his US-backed gummint. Since al-Sadr is a political threat to Maliki, Maliki attacks the Mahdi army, bombing pregnant women in Sadr City. Maliki knows the US will back his play, even though it's really a civil power struggle. The US/Dana Perrino just tells its people we're killing terrorists, even calling them Al Quaeda. But Al Quaeda is Sunni, not Shi'ite. Shi'ites and Sunnis aren't war allies, they're enemies, so Iran wouldn't back Al Quaeda. But the US has to very very very strongly imply the absurdity that Iran is backing Sunni Al Quaeda instead of Shi'ite al-Sadr because otherwise the US would be admitting that US troops and mercenaries are participating in a civil war. Which would be bad. I heard Jenna's wedding will have 14,000 guests!
