Here be the digits
From the first pitch of the game, right past the eighth inning when Austin Kearns hit the sweet little single to run-in Guzman and take the lead for good, these boys were on their feet. It wasn't because they were into the game. They were only just aware of the fact that a game was in play. It was more of a pack ritual. Nobody was gonna sit down first. Had one of them sat, the other three would surely have followed, and probably fallen asleep. Instead, they stood awkwardly. Beers in-hand, an oily glow about their puffy faces, talking loud above the crowd, baby.
"My dod owns a dealership, he can totally hook you up."
The first game of the series against Pitt ended well, with our unofficial new closer John Rausch closing the door and bang zoom. Ro ended the night up a buck fitty from the constant quarter bets we placed throughout the game. True, when we got to the car it refused to start, but a fellow fan swung right in and jumped our battery to take us home. All in perfect harmony with the way the boys are playing the game these days.
"I was trying to get the guy home. It's pretty simple as that. I was just trying to get a pitch, and not try to do too much. I'm happy that I'm having better at-bats and you always want to get results. Just as far as feeling better at the plate, that's always a good sign. You want to get the results, too. First and foremost, I want to win. When we win, I'm happy. You always want to help out. When you are winning, it makes things easier."
-Austin Kearns with one of his trademark vapid quotes, but that's OK.
