Hot Like Wasabi on the Red Porch, It's Like a Blowtorch

~~~
Even the Braves fans could see that Milledge just got robbed of a
Homerun. By the ninth inning, nothing could save us. Not even the awesome power of the En Masse Nats Rally Cap.
I'm not a particularly knowledgeable or interested baseball fan, but would I be right to say the Nats kind of suck so far this year?
So I go into this sorta cool baseball memorabilia shop with all this baseball fan gear like caps and t-shits and so forth that have the old-timey team logos on them and stuff and I buy this Atlanta Crackers ball cap. Anyway, I'm chattin' it up with the owner, who turns out to be the same guy that owns the comic book store on The Simpsons. And I tell him I that I have this friend that's a big Washington Nationals fan and I ask if he's got any nostalgic Nat's gear. He quips "What have The Nationals got to be nostalgic about besides Montreal?" and I say "Well, there was that first season" and he quips "So what you want is a three year old Nationals cap. And you would be in luck Sir, because most of the Nationals hats back there are three years old."
Too bad I wasn't there. I could have laid him asunder with the FACT that the Nationals team name dates back to 1905. It was that year when The Senators changed their name to The Washington nationals. Even though they plastered it across the front of the team uniforms, pretty much everybody continued to call them The Senators. It wasn't until 1956 that the team officially changed the name back to The Senators. Nobody noticed.
The Washington Senators/Nationals have a long glorious history of sucking. May 23rd, 1901, the Senators had a 9-run lead in the 9th inning with 2-outs and nobody on base for the Cleveland Blues. However, the Blues stage an amazing comeback and take the game 14-13.
My team's inability to hit the ball is also a point of tradition. Not even the great Walter Johnson was immune for the lack of run support as he finished with a woeful 13-25 record despite an impressive 2.21 ERA. The Nats would go on to finish the 1909 season in dead last with a pathetic 42-110 record.
Your guy is the
worst
store owner
EVER.
Next time I'm there I will have to specifically ask him for a 1901 or 1956 Senators cap, if I can tear him away from his internet Hi and Lois role playing games.
